Lam Chaiping

Lin Jiping, president of the Hong Kong Friendship Association of Descendants and Friends of the Whampoa Military Academy, comes from a three-generation Whampoa family. His grandfather, Lin Xunnan, was one of the first instructors at the Whampoa Military Academy and served as deputy director of its training department; his father, Lin Shangyuan, was an 18th-cohort cadet who graduated second in the artillery division and currently serves as president of the Whampoa Military Academy Alumni Association.

Upholding the Whampoa spirit of “patriotism and revolution,” Lin Jiping founded the association in Hong Kong in 2016 to unite the descendants and friends of Whampoa alumni. He has led Hong Kong youth on multiple trips to Guangdong to pay tribute to the martyrs and visit historical sites. On the occasion of the Whampoa centennial celebration, he held a photo exhibition at the University of Hong Kong. He hopes that young people will remember Whampoa’s contributions and carry forward its spirit for generations to come.
