Xie Xiao, Director of the Centre for Spatiotemporal Intelligence Systems at the Hong Kong Academy of Technology, was invited to attend the Uzbekistan Agricultural Project Symposium and Signing Ceremony, where he delivered an academic report entitled “National-Level AI Infrastructure and Precision Agriculture Project.” Drawing on his own research, Director Xie Xiao took as his starting point the scenario design of spatiotemporal intelligence technology and industry-research integration in the fields of agriculture, forestry, environment, and soil. He sought to explore the development of map chip components and intelligent agents for satellite mobile terminals, and provided an in-depth analysis of the unique advantages and potential of applying a spatiotemporal intelligent AI network in the black-soil regions of Uzbekistan. The report was met with an active response and discussion from the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, a leader of the Uzbek delegation.
The Uzbek side was represented at the meeting by 17 participants: the Director of the Department for Cooperation with China under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan; the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan; the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan; the Commissioner of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan; the Governor of Nurafshan District; the Governor of Kushrabot District; the Governor of Urgut District; the Governor of Pakhtachi District; the Governor of Payariq District; the Director of the Agricultural Industry Development Agency; the Director of the Green Economy Project Centre; the Director of the Karakul Sheep and Desert Ecology Research Institute; and the Chairman of the Livestock Development Association.
Following the meeting, Minister Ikh provided a further briefing to Prime Minister Aripov of Uzbekistan. On the afternoon of May 7, 2026, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with Prime Minister Aripov of Uzbekistan, who was visiting China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. During their in-depth exchanges on deepening China-Uzbekistan relations and multi-field cooperation, both sides mentioned the “Construction Plan for the National-Level AI Infrastructure and Precision Agriculture Project.”
