Recently, upon the application of the Hong Kong Institute of Technology and with the approval of the Hong Kong government, Hong Kong Institute of Technology Group Limited was officially established. The Group and the Business School of the Hong Kong Institute of Technology operate under a management model of “one team, two identities,” marking an important step in Hong Kong’s implementation of the Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint and its efforts to promote deep integration of “government, industry, academia, and research.”
The establishment of the Group is aligned with Hong Kong’s strategic deployment to become an international innovation and technology hub. As Hong Kong is currently improving its innovation and technology ecosystem through the layout of “three major innovation and technology parks and five research institutions,” the formation of the Group will further strengthen the link of transforming scientific research outcomes into practical applications. Its business directions focus on frontier fields such as artificial intelligence, green technology, and biomedicine, covering core segments including technology R&D, industrialization of research outcomes, business management consulting, and talent cultivation, while simultaneously advancing scientific innovation and market deployment.
In terms of development vision, the Group will leverage the collaborative innovation mechanism of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to build a cross-border technology cooperation platform, facilitating precise alignment between Hong Kong’s scientific research resources and the industrial needs of the Bay Area. The establishment of the Group through collaboration between the government and enterprises not only leverages policy and resource advantages but also activates the vitality of market entities, injecting new momentum into Hong Kong’s development of new industrialization and providing a replicable practical model for the transformation of scientific research outcomes in the region.
