Yufu Chen

- A cultural scholar, once renowned in the literary world as the "No. 1 Writer" and "Gold Medal Screenwriter."
Currently, he serves as a member of the Gansu Provincial People’s Government Research Institute of Culture and History, a delegate to the Ninth National Congress of the Chinese Writers’ Association, vice chairman of the Gansu Writers’ Association, researcher at the Hexi Corridor Think Tank of the Silk Road Economic Belt, researcher at the Hexi Culture Translation Center of Hexi University, resident expert at Lanzhou University of Arts and Science, and vice president of the Chinese Yan’an Literature and Art Society.
He began his literary career in 1977 and has since published more than 50 works, including full-length novels, novellas, and short stories, totaling over 15 million characters. His theoretical articles, such as “The Chinese Spirit Is the Soul of Socialist Literature and Art” and “The Ultimate Criterion for Measuring the Literary and Artistic Achievements of an Era Is Its Works,” have been included in teaching materials on Xi Jinping Thought on Culture for national ministries and commissions. His full-length novels Xiliang Ma Chao (Ma Chao of the Western Liang) and Laomo (Model Worker) were shortlisted for the Mao Dun Literature Prize. Works such as Zhangye Zhuan and Wuwei Zhuan have been selected for the National Cultural Export Project and translated into English, Arabic, and other languages for publication around the world.
His works have received the Special Recommendation Award for China’s Annual Golden List of Full-Length Novels, the Original Screenplay Award for Outstanding Chinese TV Series, the Yang Shengan Literature Prize, the Original Screenplay Award for Outstanding Chinese TV Series, and the double honors of the Flying Apsaras and Golden Eagle Awards for Chinese TV dramas, among other awards.
